Busy
March 23, 2019
Lately, my life has been a non-stop orchestra of chaotic movements, or so it seems. Faster and faster, change is being thrust upon me with no end in sight. I find myself forced to change too. Don't get me wrong, I like change! In general, I embrace it wholeheartedly. That being the case, you're probably asking what the issue is. Well, let me tell you. I don't mind technological change. Learning something new (especially when it's beneficial) is fun for me. I enjoy it. Becoming an expert is seldom the goal. However, having a fully functional understanding for every day purposes is More ➜
Things That Matter Most...
February 27, 2019
When I first decided to publish my first book, it was a nerve-wracking, gut-wrenching experience. I recall telling my wife many things during that time. I had hopes – that people would like it, dreams – to make enough money to write full-time, and expectations – that there would be a lot of work still to do. In all, these three things were in the realm of possibilities (some more than others.) However, there was was something I told my wife above all these – my mission. I wanted what I wrote to change lives. I remember saying, "If my this story changes one life for tMore ➜
It's Christmas Time!
December 13, 2018
It's Christmas time! You might have guessed from the title that this post is in some way about Christmas. If so, you have guessed correctly. If not, there's still hope for you yet. Seriously though, it is Christmas time, probably my favorite time of year. Christmas songs (especially Roger Whitaker's), eggnog, Christmas cookies, and more are all family traditions that add to the merriment of this particular holiday. Plus, In my family, December is a big month. Including nephews, nieces, my children, one aunt, and a brother-in-law, we have eight birthdays. I even have two More ➜
Who's to Blame?
October 28, 2018
Recently, we had a small group meeting at our house in which the topic of discussion was Cain and Abel. As I lead the group, I realized that what was being discussed was something that many parents may need to hear – first, some back story. As a parent, I know I've made mistakes. I've done things as an adult that I believe have impacted my children, for good and bad. And as their father, I often struggle with this. I'm supposed to protect my children, not harm them. Still, it almost seems inevitable. I, like many other parents, have had at least one responsible child blame mMore ➜
Ebb and Flow
August 21, 2018
It's been quite awhile since my last blog. Life has been fairly hectic for me, to say the least. I've had a lot going in the writing world. Book three, Redemption of the Mighty, will be out later this year, I've passed along a script for a pilot episode to be reviewed by interested parties, and I've begun work on another book. Oh, and there's a comic book I'm working on too. But, trying to manage all of that has become a fairly regular thing. But, that's not all. Just this past week, we added another kids to the number of those that are out of the house for a total of four. This oMore ➜
To Men, a Reflection on Father's Day
June 22, 2018
Father's Day has come and gone. Over the past several days, I watched many people post things about their dads. Some were good – happy memories they recalled, once shared with a now departed parent. Others posted their appreciation of their dad, usually with a picture. Still, there were people who posted of people who filled that role in their life. Finally, there were posts from those who felt no fondness of any kind associated with day. Me? I love my dad. I'm a fairly sentimental guy. I draw roses for my wife from time to time. I cry when a movie or good book moves me. HecMore ➜
Meaningless!
March 29, 2018
'Meaningless! Meaningless!' says the Teacher. 'Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.' – Ecclesiastes 1:2 Have you ever felt that way? We can read this first chapter of Ecclesiastes in its entirety and it doesn't get any lighter. The writer does a better than great job of relating exactly what's on his mind. In addition, I get the impression that the Teacher had known what it was like to work hard toward a hoped outcome, maybe even an expected outcome, only to see what he thought would surely come to pass fall by the wayside. I've had these days more oftenMore ➜
God Has Blessed Us Even When We Don't See It
March 19, 2018
Let's be honest, life can be hard. It is full of twists and turns but then again, who doesn't enjoy a few adventures. I know there are definitely things in life happening that are so difficult to overcome. But, there are also some really awesome things. Life is full of bad moments – like the passing of a close family member or a parental separation. Maybe abuse, or bullying in school hits a little closer to some. For others it could be mental or physical health they struggle with. At any age any number of awful things could happen. Events like these aren't planned, and we arMore ➜
Valentine's Day Is More Than Just Romance
February 9, 2018
One month down, and eleven more to go; 2018 is off to swing. We had snow, rain, cold weather, and warm. It felt like spring and winter all rolled in one. January was a month packed full with adventure, good times, and good people. And, it was full of new endeavors; but, let's fill February with love. Valentine's day is just around the corner, which means sharing the love. Typically, we see Valentine's day as a day to celebrate as a couple. This leaves so many people feeling left out. Love is not just between two people in a relationship. There is much more love to be celebrated onMore ➜
Mighty Are We
January 15, 2018
The new year is here, and that means excitement, resolutions, goodbye to the old and bad, and hello to the good and new. There will always be memories and memorabilia of 2017, but now is the time to begin again. There are so many things that we ourselves are capable of doing to make this new year the best one yet. We all want the best for ourselves and others. The best way to do this is to care for others. Put others first and you will realize that what goes around comes around. Now I'm not saying don't do anything for yourself, but make sure to do good for others as well. More ➜
2017 is History, and Thank Goodness!
January 7, 2018
December is always a bit of a rough month for me and my family. My nephew who lives with us has his birthday on December 15. His adult sister's is December 21, and his oldest brother's birthday is December 29. Throw Christmas in, and that's a lot. But, I'm not done. My youngest daughter's birthday is December 26, and mine is December 27. My son was born on January 19, while my oldest daughter was born February 5. Oh! I have another nephew (whom I never see anymore) whose birthday is December 31. Needless to say, our family has a lot going on in December. Over the years, we've gottMore ➜
I Love My Wife
October 5, 2017
When my wife and I worked with youth ministry at our church, I often would use her as an example. I did the same with my kids on occasion. With six kids and a wife that seems to enjoy doing things the hard way, they were and still are a constant source of material. It seemed that no matter what lesson I prepared for the week, that someone (myself included) was always going through something that was applicable. My wife never minded me sharing her struggles. I think it helped her to understand that others could also learn from what she was going through. Now, Shaunna and I have takMore ➜

Who's Your Favorite?
July 31, 2017
Not long ago, I was at a convention and someone asked me who my favorite person from scripture is. That didn't require much thought. I have a list of favorites. The very top of the list is and always will be Christ. That's a given. There is no other name like that name. He sacrificed for me. Without Jesus, I would simply be another person void of hope in an ever darkening world. But, as the question poised to me was part of an ongoing conversation, I understood that the what was being asked of me was this. Other than Jesus, who is my favorite person from scripture? Again, I have mMore ➜
Lost in the Woods
July 2, 2017
This week is my family's vacation. Yesterday, my wife, my son, my youngest daughter, and I went to hike at a state park not too far from home. Over the years, my wife and I have visited the park together multiple times, and have even taken the older kids who are now all but grown. So, it seemed time to take the youngest two. We started the morning by hiking down the side of the mountain on several hundred steps to look up from the bottom of the waterfalls. They were beautiful. Then, there was a hike back up. It was tiring and daunting. But, we made it and were glad to break for luMore ➜
Already May and What a Year!
May 29, 2017
I've wanted to do better at writing this blog. Unfortunately, I haven't, but not for lack of content. There have been a lot of different changing and moving parts in my life of late. The first story of Stephen was published this year, which has brought book signings and many other new experiences that are much like starting and running a new business. It has been time consuming. Then, as the school year came to a close, one of my daughters (the one I call "Princess") graduated. I couldn't be more proud. She's been accepted into the college of her choice and successfully auditionedMore ➜
Survival
April 19, 2017
I'm a member of a local writing guild. We were given an exercise, to write a very short story about events surrounding the receipt of a life altering letter. I enjoyed the exercise and thought I'd share the story. Perhaps it will be a novel one day. Enjoy! Survival Kenyon T. Henry My hands tremble as I set the paper down on the coffee table in front of me. What do I do? What can I do? If I tell anyone the truth, they'll lock me up in an institution and I may never get out. If I tell no one, it could be worse. For more than a year now, I've struggled wMore ➜
First Book Signing 03/18/2017
March 19, 2017
I had my first book signing event yesterday. Now that I've had a day to reflect on it, I wanted to share some thoughts about it. It was interesting talking with people about the story. Many who came were friends or family that wanted to show support for my endeavor. To all of them, I'm grateful. Because of them, I'm blessed! And, it was great to see each and everyone of them. Now, I'd like to address those who stopped by that I did not know. Meeting and speaking with people that I had never met before about a book that they had not heard of before was truly interesting. Some wanteMore ➜
